Felicia Chin Once Threw Jeffrey Xu’s Shoes Out Of The House During Heated Fight — And Told Him To Leave

They may be one of local showbiz’s sweetest couples, but Felicia Chin, 41, and Jeffrey Xu, 37, are the first to admit their relationship isn’t always lovey-dovey.

In fact, they argue pretty often.

Last month, the couple, who have been married for four years, started online series Trash Talk, where they share their thoughts on everything from relationships to food and life.

Arguments were the topic of their first episode, and in a recent interview with Lianhe Zaobao, the couple opened up further about some of their past fights.

One argument in particular still sticks with Jeffrey today.

He recalled how Felicia once got so angry with him that she threw his shoes out of the house and told him to leave.

“That was the time I was hurt the most,” he said.

Though he knew they were both emotional and that Felicia didn’t really mean it, her words hit him particularly hard.

Originally from Shanghai, Jeffrey moved to Singapore after winning Star Search in 2010 and has since made a life here.

“When she said that, I felt like I was being kicked out of Singapore. This is my only home. When my wife tells me to get out, I become homeless. Where am I supposed to go?” he said.

According to Felicia, the incident happened six or seven years ago before they were married. She was ill at the time and felt Jeffrey had treated her poorly when she was at her most vulnerable.

“He wasn’t nice to me when I was weak, but he refused to admit it. I felt very wronged,” she recalled.

Back then, Felicia said she didn’t know how to process or communicate her emotions. If the same thing happened today, she would probably tell Jeffrey: “Okay, you stay in the living room and I’ll stay in the bedroom.”

Jeffrey, too, acknowledged that he wasn't exactly the most caring partner then.

“I didn’t have patience and my temper wasn’t very good,” he admitted.

Though he took care of the household chores, he would get impatient when a sick Felicia repeatedly asked him to bring her water.

“When a sick person asked me to bring her water or do things for her, I found it troublesome,” he said.

Interestingly, this isn’t the only time Felicia has said something like that in the heat of an argument.

The couple revealed on Trash Talk that they recently had a similar quarrel while Jeffrey was working in Malaysia. During the argument, Felicia told Jeffrey: “You don’t have to come home tomorrow!”

The remark was particularly upsetting for Jeffrey, who said Felicia had given him the sense of home and belonging he had always wanted in Singapore.

After the call, he sent her an angry text, only to see a single tick. He suspected she had blocked him.

Felicia, meanwhile, said she sees temporarily blocking your partner as a way to cool down.

The couple admit they’re still learning to communicate better, especially since they express their emotions very differently.

Felicia believes in talking things out, while Jeffrey tends to hold back — something he attributes partly to growing up watching his father keep his troubles to himself.

Since getting married, Jeffrey has been learning to open up more, with Felicia encouraging him to talk about how he feels.

Home is wherever Felicia is for Jeffrey.

The couple get real about the less lovey-dovey side of their relationship on their talk show.
