Fann Wong's Son, 11, Is A Semi-Finalist At A National Public Speaking Contest; Wins Praise For How Eloquent He Is

By now, we already know how well-spoken Fann Wong and Christopher Lee’s son Zed is. Remember how he wowed crowds with his fluent Mandarin at a Mother Tongue symposium with his mum back in 2024?

But if you were impressed by his command of Chinese, wait until you hear how eloquent and powerful he is in English.

Recently, it was revealed that the 11-year-old is a semi-finalist in the upper primary category of the National Youth Orator Championships 2026.

The Primary 5 student from Maha Bodhi School appears to be enrolled at the Masters Speakers Academy, a programme by local tuition centre Mind Stretcher that is designed to help students build confidence in public speaking.

In the contest, Zed delivered a speech just over two minutes long, talking about “the first thing [he’d] share about Singapore”. He touched on Singapore's unique features and places of interests, including Marina Bay Sands, Jewel Changi Airport, Sea Aquarium and more.

“You’re thinking of visiting Singapore. Brilliant! Forget the boring brochures, let me give you the real, slightly unhinged tour guide version,” he said.

“Imagine Singapore as a city that the past, present and future all built together after they’ve had a bit too much coffee,” he quipped, carefully enunciating each punchline as he narrated his speech.

"So pack your sunglasses, swimsuit, appetite and sense of wonder. And maybe an extra memory card for your phone, you're gonna need it," he chirped as he concluded his speech.

Zed's impressive articulation, needless to say, left netizens flooding the comments with praise.

"What an awesome boy. He looks smart, kind and is a child with a bright future," effused one netizen.

Others fawned over his oratorical skills and remarked that Zed's parents must be so proud of him.

"He is very eloquent since he was a toddler. Such an energetic and posh speech. He deserves to be a finalist," another wrote.

However, when 8days.sg reached out to Fann regarding Zed's accomplishment, the actress "respectfully declined" to comment.

Zed is definitely on his way to becoming a brilliant public speaker
