Well, dreams do come true.

In a recent Just Swipe Lah video, which is a collaboration with the Ministry of Social And Family Development for National Family Week, actress Eswari Gunasagar, 32, and her mum, Pushpa, try pottery for the first time, while sharing some seriously sweet anecdotes about their mother-daughter relationship.

Eswari joined showbiz in 2012, after finishing as a finalist in 2011’s Miss Vasantham beauty pageant.

From NDP host to Best Actress winner.

Viewers will also remember her as Shruti from Tanglin, or as one of the four hosts of the National Day Parade (NDP) last year.

The same year, Eswari bagged the Best Actress award at Pradhana Vizha 2021 for her performance in the Vasantham drama, Kalaba Kadhala.

However, these career milestones, while impressive, isn’t what Eswari’s mum is the most proud of.

Instead, it’s the fact that Eswari’s now a movie star.

Or to be more accurate — a movie star in a Jack Neo film.

For those not in the know, Eswari plays Recruit Kamala in the latest installment to Jack’s long-running army-themed movie series, Ah Girls Go Army, and Ah Girls Go Army Again.

One look is all it takes.

But back to the video. Eswari got the ball rolling first, revealing that her mum is her best friend.

“I can understand my mum very clearly, simply by looking at her. I can tell whether she’s sad or normal, or angry. I make her feel better,” said Eswari, adding that if she were to date anyone now, she’d definitely let her mum know.

She then went on to share that when she hosted the NDP last year, her dad was super proud of her.

Eswari and her dad.

“He went around telling everyone, 'Watch the NDP, my daughter is going to host it this year',” Eswari said.

But for Eswari’s mum, she had a different 'dream' for her daughter.

All about that army life?

“My last project was a film by Jack Neo. Mum was very happy 'cos she always used to tell me, right from before, that I should act in one of Jack Neo’s films,” Eswari said.

Guess it goes without saying that the biggest fan of Recruit Kamala is definitely Eswari’s mum.
