Elvin Ng Has Never Cooked, Would Rather “Starve To Death” Than Cook Instant Noodles Himself During NS
The 43-year-old actor, however, was made to peel raw prawns for the first time in the latest episode of Dishing With Chris Lee.

Elvin Ng, Carrie Wong, and Zhang Zhenxuan (aka Zhang Zhenhuan) were not just the latest guests on Dishing With Chris Lee, they were also the most inexperienced in the kitchen the show has ever seen.
As usual, they were tasked by host Christopher Lee to help prepare the ingredients needed to make seafood pasta and seafood stew.
However, the struggles started right from the get-go as Carrie, 30, and Elvin, 43, got squirmish at the thought of retrieving mussels covered in serpent starfishes.
The duo would later rope in Zhenxuan, 40, to help them, while Carrie smartly took over his job to chop garlic.
While working hard at her new task, Carrie was asked by Chris if she has ever cooked at home.
She revealed that she “hates chopping garlic” ‘cos the smell would linger on her fingers and make her sneeze.
“Do you not like eating garlic then?” quizzed Chris.
“I really love it,” she answered, confusing Chris, who then asked: “Can you tell me what else you know how to do?”
“I know how to eat,” giggled Carrie, who proudly said she “can cook instant noodles”. Cue Chris’ perplexed expression.
Elvin was later made to peel prawns.
“Wah, this is the first time [I’m doing this],” he said.
Chris asked: “So when you’re at home, since you were young, how many times have you cooked [for yourself]?”
Elvin chuckled as he admitted: “Not even once.”
“I was too lazy to cook instant noodles even when I was serving national service. I’d rather starve to death. I would ask others who were cooking to help me,” he continued.
A shocked Chris then joked: “Do you want to starve today?”
His lack of cooking skills aside, Elvin candidly spoke about the growth he’s experienced in recent years.
When asked by Chris about their current phase of life, Elvin said he's now “very focused on getting rid of excess baggage”.
He said: “I used to be more stubborn. When I was younger, I tended to overthink. I don’t do that as much at my current age, and I just let nature take its course.”
Recalling Elvin’s words, Chris then said in a b-roll interview: “I think that he cares a lot about his achievements and performances, which resulted in him caring a lot about how others perceive him. He isn’t blaming others for their opinions of him, but instead, he’s particular about why they would feel that way about him.”
While on the topic of how they seek improvements and new challenges in their careers, Chris prompted Elvin to share about his experience of pursuing an acting course in New York.
Elvin said: “Aside from the time spent in my classes, I learnt a lot outside of my lessons as well. I went there by myself and I only had myself to look after. I felt every emotion very strongly, so I would cry or laugh very easily while there. I don’t know what happened, but all my emotions were amplified.”
“I feel that acting and real life are closely intertwined, especially when you’ve had more real-life experiences. If you never had these experiences, you’re just acting for the sake of it,” he added.
