Alleged Voice Clip Of Eleanor Lee Insulting Mainland Chinese People Leaked, Her Name Not Seen On Cast List Of Upcoming Drama
The damning voice clip was shared by an individual claiming to be the former assistant of Eleanor, the daughter of Mediacorp host Quan Yifeng.
It appears local actress Eleanor Lee has found herself in a predicament.
The 25-year-old daughter of Mediacorp host Quan Yifeng and her ex-husband Peter Yu, is set to appear as one of the female leads in Chinese drama Go to the Mountains and Sea.
However, according to several media outlets, including ET today and Tencent, that is no longer the case after a damning voice recording of the star was leaked.
She reportedly says in the clip: “If you’re famous then you’re famous. It’s good that you’re able to earn money. I’m not doing this for fame, but for money, and it’s fine as long as I have shows to film and money to earn. What else can I do.”
She also reportedly said at the end of the clip that “the majority of Chinese people are fools.”
The individual who leaked the clip claims to be Eleanor’s former assistant.
The alleged former assistant also accused Eleanor of being a “willing third party in a relationship”, adding that she “has a messy private life”.
Said assistant claimed to have kept records of their conversations with Eleanor over the years as 'evidence'.
The legitimacy of the voice clip has yet to be proven, and the media has not gotten a response from those involved in the controversy.
Go to the Mountains and Sea is originally expected to air this year, but has yet to receive any publicity on streaming sites. Netizens believe the lack of attention is due to Eleanor’s leaked recording.
Eleanor, who is the second female lead in the show, finished filming the drama last year and is said to appear in many of its scenes.
Some suspect she might be removed from the show altogether.
Last year, Eleanor was tagged on a social media post from the drama’s production team.
This year, in a separate post containing the trailer, Eleanor’s name was nowhere to be found.
However, she still can be seen in the trailer.
