Desmond Tan's 1-Yr-Old Son Said To Be Very Handsome... So Why Is The Actor Not That Keen On Him Joining Showbiz?

Nothing says "time flies" quite like watching a kid grow up. And just like that, Desmond Tan's son is already one.

Earlier this week, the 40-year-old Mediacorp actor took to Instagram to share that he had recently thrown an F1-themed party for his second-born's first birthday.

Desmond and his university sweetheart, whom he married in 2021, also have a two-year-old daughter.

Now, we all know how fiercely protective Desmond is of his kids' privacy.

To this day, he hasn't revealed either of his children's full names and goes out of his way to ensure their faces are obscured in every photo he posts.

In fact, he shared a stack of Polaroids from the birthday party and still made sure his son's face was covered in every single one.

The decor did, however, appear to drop one subtle hint: A banner reading "M is Formula ONE" suggests his son's name might start with the letter M.

So imagine our surprise when Desmond apparently showed a photo of his son to a reporter during a recent interview with zaobao.sg.

The toddler was subsequently described in reports as having "big, beautiful eyes that are absolutely captivating," prompting reporters to joke that he might "break many hearts" when he grows up.

Even Desmond couldn't help effusing that his son is indeed very handsome.

So does that mean the little guy might one day follow in daddy's footsteps into showbiz?

Desmond admitted that working in the entertainment industry is extremely tough. It's not only exhausting for the individual, but also requires intense coordination from everyone involved.

For that reason, he isn't particularly keen on his children joining showbiz.

It's not a hard no, though.

"I won't deliberately obstruct my children's choices. If my son shows interest and talent in the future, I will let nature take its course and nurture him," he said.

"In terms of education, I hope to let my children try different things first to explore where their true interests and talents lie."
