Chen Xiuhuan Posts Cute Throwback Photos For Daughter’s 26th Birthday, From Her Ultrasound Scan When She Was “As Tiny As A Little Cockroach”

It's no secret that local actress Chen Xiuhuan, 60, shares a close bond with her three daughters, Shanisse, 28, Shalynn, 26, and Shavinne Tsai, 22. And when their birthdays come around each year, the doting mum never fails to pen the sweetest, most heartfelt tributes to her girls on social media. 

Shalynn, who is currently pursuing her studies in dentistry in Australia, turned 26 last week. Keeping with tradition, Xiuhuan took to Instagram over the weekend to mark the occasion, sharing an adorable series of throwback photos, along with touching anecdotes from the not-so-distant past. 

Xiuhuan kicked off the photo collection with a shot of herself holding baby Shalynn, followed by two recent snaps from her birthday celebration — including one where Shalynn plants a kiss on her cheek — a touching reminder of how quickly the years have flown by.

She also shared photos from her pregnancy with Shalynn, including an ultrasound scan, followed by a series capturing Shalynn’s journey from baby to toddler to schoolgirl.

Looking back on the fond memories, Xiuhuan wrote in her caption: "Happy birthday my precious Qiyun! Since you were little, you have always been that little girl whose eyes sparkle brightly — active, playful, witty, smart, and so eager to learn."

"The first photo is of you at two months old, in Mummy’s arms. So tiny, yet you had already completely captured my heart. The fourth and fifth photos were taken when you were still in my belly. You must have been about eight or nine months along, and I looked forward to the moment I would finally meet you every single day," she continued. 

Referring to her ultrasound photo, Xiuhuan playfully recalled how Shalynn was “as tiny as a little cockroach”, yet had already become her most precious treasure from that very moment. She also reflected on how she “became a photographer" over the years, not wanting to miss a single stage of Shalynn’s growing years, even on the most ordinary days.

She recalled how Shalynn was chosen to play Snow White in kindergarten, but refused the role and pouted in an “unbearably cute” way because she didn’t want to hold a little boy’s hand. Xiuhuan also remembered the time five-year-old Shalynn told her she wanted to go bungee jumping, saying, “At such a young age, you almost made Mummy faint. Your courage was truly extraordinary.”

"You were so active as a child, never able to sit still. Yet you insisted on learning the violin. Daddy and I never imagined that little you could practice seriously for an hour every single day," Xiuhuan added. 

She ended the post wiith a heartfelt declaration of love for her daughter and a promise to support her in all the years to come. 

Shalynn also received well wishes from Xiuhuan’s celeb pals, including Pan Lingling, Kate Pang, and Brandon Wong.

The birthday girl herself chimed in on her mum’s post, leaving an equally sweet reply: “Thank [you] for everything you and Daddy do for me. I love you both so so much.”
