Carrie Wong Mourns Death Of Grandma, Whom She Hasn’t Seen In 2 Years ’Cos Of COVID-19
“[She] really knew how to pick dates," wrote Carrie about her beloved grandmother who passed away in Malaysia on National Day.
Yesterday (Aug 10), Carrie Wong, 27, took to her Instagram to say that her grandmother, who lived in Malaysia, had passed away a day earlier.
“My grandmother really knew how to pick dates, and chose to leave the world on National Day. In the future, National Day will have another reason for us to commemorate,” wrote Carrie.
In her heartfelt tribute, which was written in Chinese, Carrie also apologised for “not being able to see” her grandmother for the last time before her death.

“In the past few years, you’ve always been waiting for us, waiting for us to return home, waiting for us to play cards, waiting for us to eat, [and] waiting for us to take a family photo together. ‘Cos we were all busy, so you waited,” wrote Carrie.
“Often, I was unable to return ‘cos of work, and you’ll frequently tell me that you saw me on TV. Every time, you’d say that I’m too thin, and ask me to eat more, ask if I had money, and if work was tough. Up till the last time I had a FaceTime call with you, you didn’t have much strength to talk, but you were still asking if I’d eaten… yes. I’m eating well, and eating a lot too. Ah Ma, don’t worry! You won’t have to suffer in the future, and will you no longer be tired or be in pain,” continued Carrie.
The actress also shared that she couldn't see her grandmother for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Even now, when I wish to be by the side of my family, to bear this hurt together, I’m unable to do so. I couldn’t see my grandmother for the very last time. The most painful regret in life is to not be able to bid a proper farewell,” she wrote.

Carrie also went on to share that her heart goes out to everyone who is separated from their families due to work.
“It's really not easy for them. You’ve all worked hard, you must remain strong and press on. Everything will become better, and the world will become healthy [once more],” she wrote.
Among Carrie's colleagues who have left their condolences are Xu Bin, Chew Chor Meng, Qi Yuwu and Huang Biren.
