Wife Of Hong Junyang Speaks Up On His Recent Bankruptcy News; Shares Heartfelt Message

Yesterday, it was revealed that local singer-producer Hong Junyang has been declared bankrupt.

The news came to light after a tip-off revealed that the 44-year-old was included in a publicly available government gazette of bankrupt individuals published in September, as reported by AsiaOne. 

Junyang subsequently also confirmed the news with the media outlet, sharing that the bankruptcy was a result of debt from his Thai street food restaurant chain The Original Boat Noodles. 

"Ever since Covid-19 started, it has been very, very tough for us, up till our closure... I tried my best," he said.

The same night, Junyang's wife, local actress Candyce Toh, 45, also took to her socials to show support for her husband. 

"I’ve received so much care and concern from everyone. It truly warms my heart and moves me deeply. I’m sorry I couldn’t reply to each message individually, but I’ve read all of your comments and private messages carefully," she wrote.

The actress thanked everyone for their support and encouragement, and said she's "truly grateful and deeply cherish every bit of kindness".

"This situation has shown me a man’s sense of responsibility and commitment. He faced it bravely and took responsibility for the consequences. He's both strong and courageous."

Through this incident, Candyce also "saw a husband who loves his family, and a wonderful father who holds his child in the palm of his hand."

Candyce and Junyang met in 2005 while participating in the first season of local singing competition Project SuperStar. They got married in 2009 and have two daughters — Azalea, nine, and Alessia, three. 

She assured that she's "okay and doing well", and is doing her best to find a balance between family and career. 

After marriage, Candyce ventured into hosting and acting. She is now also hosting e-commerce livestreams on her TikTok account.

"It’s not easy, but I’m working on it," she said. 

In her post, the actress also shared a heartfelt message to Junyang. 

"I will be yours in times of plenty and in times of want, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow... I promise to cherish and respect you, to care and protect you, to comfort and encourage you, and stay with you, for all eternity," she wrote. 

She shared that this was something she promised Junyang on their wedding day, and something she'll "hold true to for the rest of [her] life".

"No matter what comes our way," she promised. “With a childlike heart in hand, we grow old together.”
