Bystanders Help Delivery Man Move Boxes In Downpour In SG; Netizens Share Other Kind Acts By S’poreans They've Encountered
A Xiaohongshu user was recently taking shelter at a coffeeshop at Balestier Road during a heavy downpour when she witnessed, in her words, "a heartwarming sight".
Sharing a clip of her view of the road, the woman recounted: "A delivery uncle was pushing a trolley in the rain, however, his trolley got caught on the slope of the sidewalk, causing his goods to fall all over the floor."
A group of at least four Singaporeans were then seen rushing to the deliveryman's aid. Holding their umbrellas in one hand, they helped him pick up the fallen boxes, neatly stacking them back onto the trolley.
Thanks to their help, the uncle was able to quickly retrieve all the boxes and enter the sheltered area of the coffee shop.
Netizens praised the group of young men for their thoughtful actions. Other netizens shared more instances in which they were moved by the kind acts of other Singaporeans.
"I'm not the kind to bring an umbrella out with me. But when it's raining, I would always run into someone who is willing to share their umbrella with me when crossing the road," said one netizen.
Another recounted: "Once, I was on the bus with my son and he threw up because he was feeling unwell. At that moment, over 10 other passengers offered us their tissues. I was super touched."
Many were of the same sentiment that Singaporeans are "a very helpful bunch", and are not the kind to hesitate when seeing someone in need.
One netizen added: "That's Singaporeans for you. On the surface, we look cold and uncaring, and are more focused on rushing to our own destinations, but whenever we see someone who needs help, we're generally very willing to offer a hand."
Faith in humanity? Restored.
