Charmaine Hui, the daughter of late Hong Kong veteran actor Benz Hui, has joined artist management company Chessman HK as a professional host.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the 28-year-old wrote: "Six months ago, I would never have imagined that this period of my life would bring one change after another, pushing me out of my comfort zone time and again within just three months."

Benz was 76 when he passed away from cancer-related organ failure on October 28 last year.

Charmaine continued: "As cliché as it sounds, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. I'm grateful to have had my family and a group of friends by my side during this time. Their companionship and care made the process of making that cup of "lemonade" so much easier."

According to Hong Kong media reports, Charmaine shared that she has no immediate plans to inherit her father’s legacy, as she believes she still has much to learn. She also expressed hope for guidance and support as she continues to grow in her career.

She revealed that while he was alive, Benz always encouraged her to pursue a happy and fulfilling life. She remains deeply grateful for the unconditional love he showed her, and continues to hold it close to her heart.

As for whether she plans to venture into acting, Charmaine shared that her interest has always been in hosting. Having emceed school events during her university days, she hopes to focus on a hosting path for now, while remaining open to other opportunities when they come her way.

Hong Kong TV and radio personality Bob Lam, a key figure behind Chessman Entertainment & Production’s Hong Kong wing, revealed that he noticed Charmaine as early as when she was running her online channel. He felt she had a fresh image, radiated positive energy, and showed a keen interest in hosting, which paved the way for their collaboration.

Bob also said the company aims to give Charmaine more platforms and opportunities to showcase her talents and is actively lining up hosting gigs for her.

In 2023, Charmaine tied the knot with her Singaporean husband, who is based in Hong Kong. After selling her two Singapore cafes, Cafe Bakeholic and Juju, she moved to Hong Kong, where the couple lives.
