Kate Pang Praises Andie Chen For Being A Good Husband, A Day After His Ex-Girlfriend Melissa Faith Yeo Claimed He "Alluded To The Press" That She Cheated On Him
Andie and Melissa broke up almost 11 years ago.
On Monday (May 30), former actress-model Melissa Faith Yeo, 36, posted on TikTok a three-minute video titled “Spilling the tea on the media industry in Singapore”.
She added in the caption that she decided to speak up after receiving “a lot of 'what happened to you' questions for the past 10 years”.
Melissa first got her start as a model on game show Deal or No Deal, before venturing into acting. She appeared on a number of local productions, including 2025 and the 2014 horror anthology, Afterimages. She’s now working as a property agent.
In her video, Melissa said that she was struggling in her previous career for a “number of reasons”, with the main one being her “public breakup”.
“This guy and I, we broke up in late-2011, we decided not to talk about it,” she said.
However, Melissa claimed that in 2012 the other party “alluded to the press” that she cheated on him. According to Melissa, her ex-boyfriend “needed the clout” and the “pity votes for Star Awards” 'cos he was nominated for Best Actor.
Though she did not name any names, netizens in the comments section quickly identified Andie Chen, 36, as the guy she was talking about.
Melissa and Andie announced their breakup in late 2011 and he was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Code of Honour in 2012.
In an interview that same year, Andie maintained that they called it quits due to “character differences”.
A year later in 2013, Melissa revealed that she found a set of female underwear among Andie’s belongings, and that she believed that he had cheated on her.
Andie denied her accusations, explaining that a laundry mix-up happened while he was filming overseas. Therefore, his clothes had gotten mixed up with someone else’s.
However, in her TikTok exposé, Melissa said she was “slut-shamed" as a result of Andie’s words, and that Mediacorp and the “theatre community” hated her because of what happened.
She shared in the comments that she had "receipts" as well.
When local news outlet AsiaOne contacted Andie, the actor "said Melissa's statements are untrue and requested for further questions to be directed to his management agency.”
On Tuesday (May 31), a day after Melissa’s video, Andie’s wife, Kate Pang, 39, dedicated an Instagram post to Andie.
In her caption, Kate praised Andie for being a good husband, describing him as someone who is the “most cultured person” in their family.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, have two kids together — Aden, seven, and Avery, five.
“Every time he’s misunderstood by others, my fists will start clenching, but he would say : “Forget it! We’ll just ignore them”. When we argue, he’s always the one who cries first, when I feel helpless, regardless of how tired or how busy he is, he’ll comfort me gently; every day, he and the kids will thank me for cooking tonight’s dinner, and constantly allow me to feel that my sacrifices are valued and [that he’s] grateful for them,” she wrote.
Kate also went on to thank Andie’s parents for bringing Andie up well, as well as Andie, for always working hard.
"Not only does it set a good example for the kids, [you’ve] also allowed me to feel that I’m truly the most blissful person in the world,” she added.
