Andie Chen Remembers Late Pal Alien Huang 5 Years On: “I Miss How We Ended Each Phone Call With ‘I Love You’”
It’s been five years since the passing of Taiwanese star Alien Huang. Alien died of an aortic dissection at his Taipei home on September 16. He was 36.
In an Instagram post on Alien's death anniversary, local actor Andie Chen, 40, paid tribute to his late pal. Andie and his wife Kate Pang worked with Alien on the 2012 Mediacorp drama Joys of Life, and became fast friends.
In a video featuring clips of Alien and photos of the trio, Andie said: “Brother, have you been well? I miss you a lot. It’s been five years — do you know I think of you all the time?”
Andie, who is currently in Taiwan, said that everything he sees reminds him of Alien.
“Or maybe it’s because you’ve seen me at my messiest, but still chose to love and accept me anyway,” continued an emotional Andie. “I really miss the late nights we spent in the hotel room chatting, where we shared our dreams. I also miss how we ended each phone call with ‘I love you’, and how we would hug each other tightly each time we said goodbye.”
Andie then thanked Alien for being part of his life: ‘I want you to know that I carry you with me every day. I hope you’re still filled with dreams and happiness, just like before. If you can, visit me in my dreams at night so we can chat. I love you, brother.’”
Andie’s heartfelt tribute moved his followers, many of whom left comforting messages saying Alien will always live on in their hearts.
