Addy Lee Building S$200K Villa In Bangkok With A Rabbit House For Retirement — Here's A Sneak Peek

Earlier this week, ex-celebrity hairstylist Addy Lee surprised everyone when he announced through a sudden call with 8days.sg that he'd renounced his Singapore PR status.

The 54-year-old, who became a Permanent Resident 30 years ago, reached out to us from Bangkok, gushing that he felt "quite sad when giving [his] PR status back to Singapore". He, however, decided to do so to empty his CPF account for retirement.

Addy relocated from Malaysia to work in Singapore when he was 19.

He will be mostly based in Bangkok now, where he started a rabbit breeding business. He will also regularly return to Kuala Lumpur, where he has a house with his mum and sister.

In a follow-up interview with 8world, Addy divulged that he now owns an apartment in central Bangkok, but is also building a 10,000 sq ft two-storey luxury villa in the suburbs. The villa will also include a two-storey rabbit house in the backyard.

Back in January when 8days.sg spoke to Addy about his rabbit-breeding business, he told us that he had close to 200 rabbits at that time, and that they live in a 60,000 sq ft farm he specifically built for them. 

Addy said he hired "Thailand’s top designer" to design the farm, which will eventually include an Airbnb, a cafe and a house, which Addy said he would live in.

He told the Chinese media that the home, which costs over S$200K, is expected to be completed by the end of September. He has also passed the business to his staff to manage.

Addy shared that he sold his house in Singapore at the start of the year before deciding to renounce his PR status, and suffered a S$500K loss when doing so.

Moving forward, he will be enjoying his retirement life in his Bangkok villa, focusing on raising rabbits and pursuing other hobbies.

Despite having announced his "official retirement", Addy will host four more live streams before gradually stepping away from the public eye.

In the future, he may occasionally go live to interact with fans but will no longer be selling products.

He then emphasised that he will live simply from now on — no more luxury purchases or making investments — and will be spending carefully and cautiously.

“I never even wore those branded clothes I bought before. Now, thinking back, I just want to ‘slap myself’," he lamented.

That said, he now plans to travel around the world. In September, he will bring his rabbits to Chengdu to participate in a competition. He’ll then go to Penang in November to visit his mother and attend his nephew’s wedding.

Last week, we asked him how much CPF he got back and the former crimper candidly told us that he "can live 30 more years — eat, drink, play, not work, lie there — and it would likely still be enough."
