5 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About Benjamin & Narelle Kheng

What did Benjamin do to his sister, Narelle, that made him feel "not worthy of being the older brother"?

5 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About Benjamin & Narelle Kheng

There are siblings who are close. Then there’s Benjamin and Narelle Kheng, sibs so tight, they date people who are like each other, sorta. The Kheng-blings attribute their closer-than-ever bond now to being in the same band, The Sam Willows, which they set up in 2012, with Sandra Riley Tang and Jonathan Chua. This, despite their differences. How different? He’s sweet as pie, while she has no qualms about giving someone a piece of her mind. He's the wholesome poster boy-next-door, she, the edgy rebel who cusses like a rapper trying to earn her swear license. He has the hots for the girl-next-door, she gravitates towards tormented types. Yet, the siblings are sausage-tight. During our cover shoot with them, they display a chemistry as comfortable as an old, snuggly sweater (or, in Ben’s words, “an old, jaded couple after being married for 20 years”). They also swear to always have each other’s back (“It’s always like you make all the mistakes you need to make but I’ll be here to catch you if you fall,” says Narelle) and even, um, paktor with the other in mind. (Ben confesses: “For the most part, I date considering whether or not [the girls will] be good friends with Narelle.”) We peek into their sibling-mance. (A version of this story first appeared in Issue 1398, August 3, 2017.)

In case you're wondering why they're in such, um, strange outfits and poses for some of the following photos, it's 'cos we were recreating some of their childhood photos.
