The Golden Horse Award-winning actress of Ilo Ilo and Wet Season and the Code of Law actor and are part of the impressive ensemble lined up for Havoc, the latest action thriller by Gareth Evans, the director of The Raid: Redemption and The Raid II, starring Iko Uwais.
The Netflix movie also features Tom Hardy, Forest Whitaker, Timothy Olyphant, The Umbrella Academy’s Justin Cornwell, Shadow and Bone breakout Jessie Mei Li, Boogie Nights’ Luis Guzmán, and UFC mixed martial artist Michelle Waterson.
Per Variety, Havoc takes place after a drug deal gone wrong and centres on a bruised detective who must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unravelling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.
At time of writing, no word on the roles Yeo and Pang are playing.
In a Whatsapp message with 8days.sg, Pang said he’s currently rehearsing in Wales, with cameras ready to roll “middle of next month”. He added that Evans is an old friend of his; they first met in 2014 when the Welsh-born director was based in Indonesia for a few years.
Pang said he’s also looking forward to working with Yeo, “another old friend”. The two last appeared (though not together) on HBO’s HDB-set anthology series Invisible Stories.
Besides The Raid movies, Evans is also behind the 2018 horror Apostle and the co-creator of the TV crime series Gangs of London. Havoc is the first feature under a new exclusive deal between Evans and Netflix announced in February.
