Wonder Woman 1984 Brought Forward By A Week, To Be Released On Dec 17

Wonder Woman 1984 will now open in Singapore on Dec 17 instead of Dec 24.

The superhero sequel, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, was originally set to open in June but the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to be delayed to October and again to December.

“Christmas came early this year! We are pleased to announce that #WonderWoman 1984 will open in Singapore cinemas 17 December,” Warner Bros Pictures announced on its Facebook page.

The latest date change came shortly after the studio decided to release Wonder Woman 1984 in the US simultaneously in cinemas and on the streaming service HBO Max on Christmas Day.

The movie will stream on HBO Max for a month at no additional cost to subscribers. Following that, the film will be available to digital retailers like Amazon and iTunes.

Internationally, in markets where HBO Max hasn’t been launched, the movie will premiere in cinemas a week earlier on Dec 16,

Addressing the news of the hybrid release on social media, Patty Jenkins, who directed both Wonder Woman movies, wrote on Twitter, “The time has come. At some point you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give, over everything else. We love our movie as we love our fans, so we truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season.

"Watch it in theaters, where it is made safe to do so (check out the great work theaters have done to make it so!) And available in the safety of your home on HBOMAX where it is not. Happy holidays to all of you. We hope you enjoy our film as much as we enjoyed making it."
