This Was How Tom Cruise Introduced The Mission: Impossible 7 Trailer At CinemaCon
Tom Cruise is one helluva salesman. And a stunt performer.
Paramount Pictures has recently (finally!) released the pre-recorded message of Cruise unveiling the trailer of the Mission: Impossible —Dead Reckoning Part One at CinemaCon, the global convention for movie theatre owners, at the Colosseum theatre at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in April.
And it was no ordinary message. At least, by Tom Cruise standards.
In the minute-plus introduction, Cruise is seen harnessed on top of a Boeing-Stearman biplane — in mid-air. It’s Tom Cruise, what do you expect?
“Hey, everyone!” says Cruise. “I wish I could’ve been there with you. I’m sorry about all the extra noise. As you can see, we are filming the latest instalment of Mission: Impossible, and right now we’re over the gorgeous Blyde River Canyon in stunning South Africa. And we’re making this film for the big screen, for the audiences to see in our wonderful theatres.”
Then the camera pans left. Holy smoke, it’s director Christopher McQuarrie in another biplane! He reminds Cruise to quit chatting and get back to filming. “I hate to interrupt but we really got to roll, we are losing light and low on fuel,” says McQuarrie.
“See you at the movies,” Cruises says. Then both planes roll left and off they go. Oh, well, it’s just another day at the Tom Cruise Action Factory. Watch Cruise’s CinemaCon footage here:
