Sex And The City Revival: Stars to Make More Than US$1 Million Per Episode

The stars of the upcoming of Sex and the City reboot are expected to reap a huge pay day.

Reports claimed that Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will earn over US$1 million (S$1.33 mil) per episode for HBO Max’s 10 half-hour episodes called And Just Like That… The trio will also as serve as executive producers.

If there is any truth to these figures, then it means Parker is actually making less than what she did from the last three seasons of Sex and the City: she reportedly took home US$3.2 million per ep. For Nixon and Davis, however, it’s a salary hike: they were said to have made US$350,000 per ep in the series’ final two seasons.

The original Sex and the City — based on Candace Bushnell’s 1997 book of the same name — premiered on HBO in 1998 and ran for six seasons until 2004.

Announced on Sunday (Jan 10), And Just Like That… will follow Park, Davis and Nixon’s characters — Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes — as they navigate love and friendship in their 50s.

Kim Cattrall, who played public relations maven Samantha Jones in the original series, is not participating in the revival.

Parker confirmed this when answering queries on social media. When one fan suggested that Samantha Jones to be recast with American Pie’s Jennifer Coolidge, Parker said, “We have some new stories to tell. We are excited.” (Interestingly, Coolidge guested in the Season 6 episode, ‘The Perfect Present’.)

Another fan wondered if Cattrall’s absence have anything to do with her highly publicised feud with Parker.

“No, I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would,” Parker replied. “Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X (sic)”

And Just Like That… is scheduled to begin production in New York late spring.
