Ryan Reynolds Jokes That He Tricked Marvel Bosses Into Making Deadpool 3 By Showing Them Spider-Man Movies
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirms that ‘Deadpool 3’ will be R-rated — yes! — and part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Buckle up! Deadpool 3 is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s the news fans have been waiting for since the Deadpool rights were reverted to Disney-owned Marvel Studios after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019.
Yes, the foul-mouthed, fourth-wall breaking, katana sword-wielding anti-hero in tight red spandex will be playing in the same sandbox with the likes of Thor, Shang-Chi and Ant-Man. But unlike his PG-13 Marvel-mates, Wade Wilson will retain his salty, irreverent edge.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed this in an interview with Collider. “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan is overseeing a script right now... It will not be [filming] this year," said Feige.
“Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor," Feige continued. “We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
Reynolds, 44, confirmed the news by sharing a screen shot of the Collide interview on Instagram and captioned it, “First order of business: Find the guy who killed Bambi’s mom #Deadpool3.”
He also tweeted a link to said article, “Full disclosure: I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2. #Deadpool3."
