It's one of two RDJ's post-'Endgame' appearances.

Robert Downey Jr To Play Iron Man Again In Disney+ Animated Series

It looks like Robert Downey Jr isn’t done playing Tony Stark/Iron Man. Now that the statute of limitations on Avengers: Endgame spoilers is over, you should know that Iron Man didn’t make it out alive. Yeap, he’s dead. D-E-D. Dead.

But according to Jeff Goldbum, Iron Man will be resurrected for What If…?, Marvel’s upcoming animated series on the Disney+ streaming service. The series re-imagines how some of the MCU events and characters could’ve turned out differently in alternate realities.

In a recent Buzzfeed video interview, Goldbum reveals that he will reprise the role of The Grandmaster, his character in Thor: Ragnarok, in one episode of What If…? He added that Downey, too, has done a voiceover as Tony Stark for the show, slated to premiere in 2021.

Still on Tony Stark. When the Avengers: Endgame was made available on Disney+ on Nov 12, it came with a few deleted scenes not found on the Blu Ray and digital releases. (Really clever, Disney.)

One such cut moment sees Tony meeting his grown-up daughter Morgan (13 Reasons Why’s Katherine Langford) in the Soulworld after he wielded the Infinity Gauntlet. It’s a dreamy sequence similar to the one Thanos experienced in Infinity War where he encounters a young Gamora..

The sweet hereafter: the deleted scene of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) meeting his grown-up daughter Morgan (Katherine Langford) in the Soulworld after he wielded the Infinity Gauntlet.

Disney+ was launched last Tuesday (Nov 12) in the US, Canada, and the Netherlands. It will bow out in Australia and New Zealand on Nov 9, and across Europe on Mar 31, 2020. No news on when it’s coming to SE Asia. The site’s already up, though.

Before What If…?, Downey is reportedly playing Iron Man in the Black Widow movie coming out next year. We hear rumours that the trailer for the Scarlett Johansson-starring origin story will drop sometime next month. Watch this space!

Black Widow opens in cinemas Apr 30, 2020.
