[Video] Pom Klementieff Opens Up About Working With Kevin Bacon In Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special, Teases An "Emotional" GOTG Vol. 3
The Marvel Cinematic Universe celebrates Christmas!
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Marvel Studios’ second Special Presentation — following the Halloween-timed Werewolf by Night — sees the cosmic misfits' other odd couple, besides Groot and Rocket, Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) off on their own adventure… on Earth.
There, the adorkable duo are shopping for the perfect Christmas present for the heart-broken Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt): his all-time favourite actor Kevin Bacon (Kevin Bacon going meta a la Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent). By ‘shopping’, we mean ‘kidnapping’.
Again directed by James Gunn (and now co-CEO of rival DC Studios), who helmed all three Guardians of the Galaxy movies — including the upcoming third chapter — the off-shoot is off the wall, filled with whimsical tunes and festive feel-goodness, and rich in nostalgia. (Its blend of animation and live-action will remind folks of a certain age of the Star Wars Holiday Special.) Plus, there are no villains to get in the way of the gleeful intergalactic sleigh ride.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is now streaming on Disney+. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will be out in cinemas on May 4, 2023, while Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One will arrive on July 13.
