Phua Chu Kang’s COVID-19 Song, Singapore Be Steady!, Is Just What We Need Right Now
Beware: It’s an earworm!

Seventeen years after the ‘SAR-vivor Rap’, Phua Chu Kang is back with another lighthearted instructional ditty, this time to impart the dos and don’ts on COVID-19.
Gov.sg launched ‘Singapore Be Steady!’ on Sunday (Mar 22) and at the time of writing, the music video has over 74,000 YouTube views. Before this video, PCK, played by Gurmit Singh, turned up in a song-free public service announcement released on Feb 15.Nothing on safe distancing, though. Maybe they’ll squeeze that in an extended club mix or something. But it’s the catchy (contagious?) chorus that should come with a warning: “Things different already/ But Singapore be steady / Stay clean and healthy/ Just use your brain, use your brain.”
Good luck trying to shut it out; once you hear it, you can’t unhear it — it’s in your brain, in your brain. Watch the full video here.
