Phoebe Waller-Bridge And Donald Glover To Star In Amazon's Mr and Mrs Smith Series Reboot

Phoebe Waller-Bridge will team up with Donald Glover in an Amazon Prime series based on the 2005 Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie movie Mr and Mrs Smith.

Jennifer Salke, the Amazon Studios chief, said in a statement, "Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world.

"It's truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team. Mr and Mrs Smith is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca [Sloane, the showrunner] make it their own.

"We’re thrilled to be working with them, and with such great partners at New Regency."Salke also took to Instagram to announce the project which is slated to drop in 2022.

The 2005 Mr & Mrs Smith movie starred Pitt and Jolie as a married couple who worked as assassins belonging to competing agencies.

Glover, 37, and Waller-Bridge, 35, have previously worked together on Solo: A Star Wars Story; he starred as Lando Calrissian and she played droid L3-37.

The Emmy-winning creators of Atlanta and Fleabag will also serve as executive producers on Mr and Mrs Smith, which is slated to drop in 2022. — BANG
