Apple TV+ has ordered its first Korean-language series, a live-action adaptation of the Korean webtoon Dr. Brain.
Lee Sun-Kyun, the Parasite actor with the deep resonant voice, is set to star in the sci-fi thriller, which is currently in production in South Korea under the aegis of Kim Jee-Woon (I Saw the Devil, A Tale of Two Sisters).
Dr. Brain follows a brain scientist who is obsessive about figuring out new technologies to access the consciousness and memories of the brain. His life goes sideways when his family falls victim to a mysterious accident, and he uses his skills to access memories from his wife’s brain to piece together the mystery of what actually happened to his family and why.
In October, Apple TV+ began production on Pachinko, a limited series based on Lee Min-Jin’s novel which chronicles the hopes and dreams of four generations of a Korean immigrant family. Pachinko will be told in Korean, Japanese and English, and features an international ensemble that includes Lee Min-Ho, Jin Ha (Devs) and Soji Arai (Cobra Kai).
Dr. Brain is slated to debut on Apple TV+ later this year. No launch date for Pachinko as of time of writing.Photo: TPG News/Click Photos
