Oscars 2024: Where To Watch The Nominated Movies

You have until Mar 11, 7am, to catch up. No pressure.
Oscars 2024: Where To Watch The Nominated Movies

The nominations for the 96th Annual Academy Awards are out. Besides debating over who will win, who should win and who got snubbed (why no love for Barbie’s Greta Gerwig, the first female director to helm a billion-dollar grossing film?), the other more pressing question is, how many of the nominated titles have you seen? (Let’s face it, Oscar contenders aren’t easy to watch — you need to be in a receptive mood, which explains why I’ve been putting off committing three-and-a-half-hours to Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.)

Here’s a rundown of the nominees, some you can catch in the cinemas as well as online, and there are those whose theatrical releases have to yet be determined, like Jonathan Glazer’s Holocaust drama The Zone of Interest, which is up for five gongs, including Best Picture, and the creature-feature Godzilla Minus One. We’ll update the list as we receive more information.

Elsewhere, if you’re planning an Oscars pool, pay attention to the Directors Guild Awards (Feb 10), Screen Actors Guild Awards (Feb 24) and the Producers Guild Awards (Feb 25) — these groups share the same voters as the Academy, so their respective outcomes will decide who walks away with Best Director, Best Actor/Actress and Best Supporting Actor/Actress, and Best Picture. Isn’t it strange that Gerwig is vying for a DGA but is left out of the Oscars race? That’s Hollywood for you — nobody knows anything…

The 96th Annual Academy Awards will air live on Mediacorp Channel 5 and mewatch on Mar 11, from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. Red carpet kicks off at 6.30am with the main show starting from 7am. Catch the same-day encore at 5.30pm and 10.30pm for the Red Carpet and main show, respectively. A shorter version will be telecast on Mar 16, 5pm. Jimmy Kimmel is set to return as host for the fourth time.

The Holdovers: The dramedy is up for five Oscars, including Best Actor for Paul Giamatti (seen here with Dominic Sessa). This will make up for snubbing him for Sideways
