Lisa Marie Presley's Son, Benjamin Keough, Dies at 27
Lisa Marie is "completely heartbroken" by the son's death from an apparent suicide.
Benjamin Keough, the son of Lisa Marie Presley and grandson of Elvis Presley, has died. He was 27.
According to a TMZ report, Keough died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday (July 12) in Calabasas, California.
Lisa Marie’s rep says: "She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. "She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."
Keough was also the brother actress Riley Keough (Logan Lucky) and son of musician Danny Keough. (Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough divorced in 1994). He also has twin sisters, Finley and Harper Lockwood, 11, whose father is Lisa Marie’s ex-husband Michael Lockwood.
TMZ reports that Benjamin had wanted to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, signing a record deal with Universal Music worth US$5 million (S$7 mil) back in 2009. No albums were released.
In 2013, Lisa Marie told the Huffington Post that she was letting Benjamin do “his own thing”. “He’s doing his own thing right now," she said. "I’m going to let him decide when he wants to go out and do what he wants to do."
In 2012, Benjamin was featured in a music video for his mother’s cover of Elvis’ 1954 hit I Love You Because’ along with his siblings.
