Learn Safe-Distancing From The Movies Of Wes Anderson

When you mention the movies of Wes Anderson, you think of his unique visual signatures — the Futura font, striking colour palette, and rectilinear framing, to name a few.

Now, Anderson’s idiosyncratic graphic vocabulary can be used to drive home the message of social (or safe) distancing.

Turns out the characters in his movies — from Bottle Rocket to Moonrise Kingdom to Isle of Dogs — are big fans of safe-distancing, and we don’t even know it.

But we do now, thanks to the folks at cinema-lovin’ YouTube channel Little White Lies, who have come up with a montage of said moments. Watch and learn.

From Friday (March 27), people in Singapore who intentionally sit down less than 1m away from another person in a public place or on a fixed seat marked as not to be occupied, or who stand in a queue less than 1m away from another person, will be guilty of violating the Infectious Diseases Act.

If convicted, they face a fine of not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both.

Anderson’s latest offering, The French Dispatch, is slated to open here Aug 27. (Then again, with Hollywood studios delaying its releases because of COVID-19, don’t be surprised if The French Dispatch gets postponed.)
