Rockers Kiss Don’t Know Their Geography, Thank Fans In Austria With Australian Flag In Video Message

Rock band Kiss committed a geographical boo-boo during their concert in Austria over the weekend — when  their logo was displayed with an Australian flag insignia.

The Spinal Tap-worthy blunder (first reported by Classic Rock) occurred at the end of Kiss’ show at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle on Sunday (June 26) when the band — comprising frontman Paul Stanley, bassist Gene Simmons, guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer — thanked their fans by flashing ‘Kiss Loves You Vienna’ on the Jumbotron.

But here’s the thing: the Kiss logo is set against the Australian flag. Yikes. The band’s production team need  to brush up on their geography

Today Times Live mentioned that the 9,000 fans in attendance burst out laughing when the message appeared. Fans also took to social media to poke fun at the gaffe.

See the mistake for yourself here (non-Kiss fans just cue to 27:52):

Previous rockers-who-don’t-know-where-they-are-playing incidents include Guns N’ Roses when they performed at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. According to Classic Rock, the guitar tech — whose job was to announce the band every night — mistakenly greeted the crowd with a “Hellooo Sydney!”

Closer to home, Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars, in an interview with 8 DAYS to promote their Fort Canning concert in 2009, thought Singapore was in China. True story.

Kiss is currently on their ‘End of the Road’ world tour, which was launched in 2019 and is expected to end in 2023.
