First Look: Keanu Reeves And Donnie Yen Bring Out The Guns And Swords To Play In John Wick 4

The Baba Yaga is ready to see you now.

The first footage of John Wick: Chapter 4 made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday (July 22) and, boy, the eponymous hitman (Keanu Reeves) is really pissed off.

The one-minute reel opens with an unnamed character, played by franchise newbie Hiroyuki Sanada, asking Wick about the ramifications of the events in John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, where he’s marked for death by a council of crime lords called the High Table.

“Have you given any thought to where this end?”, Sanada asks. Of course, Wick has and his answer involves plenty of gun-fu, swordplay, and (at least) one use of the nunchucks.

Other new players glimpsed in the teaser — which was introduced by Reeves and director Chad Stahelski at Comic-Con — include Bill Skarsgård, Shamier Anderson, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins and Donnie Yen. The latter gets to take on Reeves and Sanada. (True story: Yen once jokingly told this writer that the John Wick creators might have nicked Reeves’ martial-arts-in-a-suit routine from his 1989 flick In the Line of Duty IV.)

Ian McShane, Lance Riddick and Laurence Fishburne are back as well in the sequel which that filmed in Japan, Jordan, the US, Germany and France.

Now, here’s the curious thing, the fourth movie is also called John Wick, just like the first one. So, there are now two John Wick movies with the same title? Then again, between now and its eventual release in March, the producers might come up with a fancy Latin phrase. Who knows?
