Jeremy Renner is out of surgery for the injuries he suffered when his snowplow ran over one of his legs at his home in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, on Sunday morning (Jan 1).

Per Variety, the 51-year-old Avengers actor — who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — has undergone multiple surgeries after suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries in a weather-related accident. Renner’s rep says he remains in the intensive care unit in “critical but stable condition.”

“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families,” the statement from the rep reads. “They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that officials responded to a traumatic injury near Mt Rose Highway in Reno at approximately 9 am Sunday.

“Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital,” the Office stated (via Variety). “Mr Renner was the only involved party in the incident.”

According to New York Post, the two-time-Oscar-nominated actor was using his Kässbohrer PistenBully snow plow to clear a path out of his five-bedroom after the area had been hit by a massive snowstorm. A safety feature on the heavy-duty machinery apparently failed and the massive plow rolled over his leg.

TMZ reported that a neighbour who is a doctor rushed to Renner’s aid by applying a tourniquet to his crushed leg to stop the bleeding. Renner was then airlifted to a hospital near Reno.
