Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Adele Warned Her Not To Make Passengers: "I Should Have Listened To Her"

Jennifer Lawrence "should have taken advice" from Adele when she warned her not to star in a film.

Speaking to The New York Times to promote her latest, Causeway, Lawrence, 32, said her good friend,  Adele, 34, told her not to make the 2016 sci-fi thriller Passengers, in which she starred alongside Chris Pratt — a project she did it for the fans.

Lawrence said: "I was like, ‘Oh no, you guys are here because I’m here, and I’m here because you’re here. Wait, who decided that this was a good movie?’ [I regret making] Passengers I guess. Adele told me not to do it! She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.’ I should have listened to her!"

In Passengers, Lawrence and Pratt played voyagers on a spaceship who get woken up out of hibernation long before their planned arrival.

Though a global commercial success, the movie was critically maimed; it scored 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

After Passengers came out, Lawrence told NYT, "Everything was like a rebound effect. I was reacting, rather than just acting.

"I felt like more of a celebrity than an actor, cut off from my creativity, my imagination," she added.

Post-Passengers, Lawrence starred in a string of underwhelming movies, like 2017's Mother!, 2018's Red Sparrow and 2019's X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

She then took some time off from acting before returning with Don't Look Up, Adam McKay's apocalyptic black comedy which was nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture.

Lawrence will next appear as a PTSD-stricken combat veteran in Causeway, out Friday on Apple TV+ (Nov 4).— BANG SHOWBIZ
