Ice Cube Lost S$12.5 Million Film Role After Refusing Covid Vaccination

Ice Cube paid a big price — or rather didn't get paid — for refusing to take the Covid-19 vaccine.

Ice Cube Lost S$12.5 Million Film Role After Refusing Covid Vaccination

Ice Cube has claimed he lost a US$9 million (S$12.5 mil) acting role because he refused to have Covid-19 vaccination.

Speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, the Ride Along actor — whose real name is O' Shea Jackson — said "I turned down a movie because I didn’t want to get the m************ jab. I turned down $9 million. I didn’t want get the jab. F*** that jab. F*** ya’ll for trying to make me get it. I don’t know how Hollywood feels about me right now."

But Cube later insisted he "didn’t turn down" the movie.

The xXx: State of the Union star added: "Those m************ didn’t give it to me because I wouldn’t get the shot. I didn’t turn it down. They just wouldn’t give it to me. The COVID shot, the jab ... I didn’t need it. I didn’t catch that s*** at all. Nothing. F*** them. I didn’t need that s***."

Cube's comments come after the trades reported in October 2021 that he had been dropped from the comedy film Oh Hell No, after he declined the vaccine. Producers on the movie had requested that the cast be vaccinated.

Cube was slated to star alongside Jack Black in Oh Hell No, with Bad Trip filmmaker Kitao Sakurai at the helm. The movie was supposed to start filming this year in Hawaii but has since pushed back its production start.

When one of the podcast hosts suggested Cube leave Hollywood for streaming, Cube replied, “That’s Hollywood thought. They’re on some s***. But me too, I’m on some shit too.”

Would he leave Hollywood and make an independent production? “I’m working on it. I’m hustling,” Cube said. “Got a lot of things up my sleeve.”
