Hugh Jackman is gobbling 8,600 calories a day as part of a brutal six-month “bulking” regimen for his comeback as Wolverine.

Jackman, 54, is set to reprise his part as the mutton-chopped mutant for Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool 3 for the first time since 2017’s Logan, and his meal preparation this time around is four times the daily calories recommended for a healthy adult man.

Jackman shared two images on Instagram of the six pre-prepared meals in tubs that were marked with ingredients and calorie counts.

“Bulking. A day in the life," he captioned. "Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst... Becoming. Wolverine. Again.”

Jackman’s meals include black bass (2,000 calories), Patagonia salmon (2,100 calories), two chicken burgers (around 1,000 calories each) and two grass-fed sirloins (1,100 calories each).

All in all, he's consuming about 8,600 calories a day.

To that in perspective, Creed III Jonathan Majors consumed 6,000 calories daily for four months for his role as a bodybuilder in the upcoming Magazine Dreams, while Chris Evans's MCU diet consisted of no fewer than eight meals per day, amounting 3,018 calories. To bulk up as Thor, Chris Hemsworth ate 10 meals for a total of 4,500 calories every day.

In Singapore, the average recommended daily caloric intake for males is 2,200 calories.

No pain, no gain: Hugh Jackman shared another image of his Wolverine diet on Instagram Story.

The Les Misérables actor said earlier this year it would take him six months of relentless training to bulk up to play Wolverine.

Speaking on CNN's Who's Talking to Chris Wallace in January, Jackman said: “I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”

Jackman first appeared as Wolverine in the first X-Men film in 2000, and again in several sequels. Jackman has two more months to go before he steps in front of the camera as Wolverine in Deadpool 3: the Shawn Levy-helmed sequel will start shooting in May for a November 2024 release. — BANG SHOWBIZ
