Disney Announces New Release Dates for Black Widow, Mulan, The Eternals

First, Sony Pictures, and now it’s Disney’s turn to majorly overhaul its 2020/2021 slate due to the closure of cinemas and production shut-down caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After pulling Mulan and Black Widow from their releases in March and April, Disney will now open the Chinese historic epic on July 24 and premiere the Marvel actioner on Nov 6, 2020.

The studio has also announced new release dates for other Marvel titles as well as the Dwayne Johnson-Emily-Blunt-starring Jungle Cruise, Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Ryan Reynold’s life-in-a-video-game fantasy Free Guy.

Meanwhile, The New Mutants, Woman in the Window, Antlers, and The Personal History of David Copperfield remained dateless while Artemis Fowl is going straight to Disney+.

What’s left on Disney’s summer slate? Besides Mulan, Pixar’s existential animated film Soul is still sticking to its original June 19 opening. But that — and the other rejigged releases mentioned here— might change if the COVID-19 situation in the US doesn’t improve.

Jungle Cruise — July 20, 2021 (from July 30, 2020)

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — Nov 5, 2021 (from May 7, 2021)

Thor: Love and Thunder — Feb 18, 2022 (from Nov 5, 2021)
