Daniel Craig doesn’t like confrontations. That’s why he prefers to chill out at gay bars to steer clear of “the aggressive dick-swinging in hetero bars”.

Speaking to Bruce Bozzi on his Lunch with Bruce podcast, the out-going James Bond star said that he first started going to gay bars in his youth.

“I’ve been going to gay bars for as long as I can remember,” the UK-born American actor said. “One of the reasons, because I don’t get into fights in gay bars that often.

“The aggressive dick-swinging in hetero bars, I just got very sick of it as a kid because it’s like I don’t want to end up being in a punch-up. And I did. That would happen quite a lot.”

Craig, 53, said that he enjoyed being in a gay bar and the people there weren’t bothered by his presence, despite being a straight man himself. Craig is married to Black Widow star Rachel Weisz. He has a 29-year-old daughter, Ella, with his first wife Scottish actress Fiona Loudon.

He added, “You didn’t really have to sort of state your sexuality. It was okay. And it was a very safe place to be. And I could meet girls there, cause there are a lot of girls there for exactly the same reason I was there. It was an ulterior motive.”

Bozzi, who’s been a friend of Craig’s for a long time, also reminisced the time back in 2010 when they were caught by tabloids hanging out together at a gay bar (called Roosterfish) in Venice Beach, California.

"We had a good time the band was playing, and then somebody else asked me if I was your manager and I yelled at him because I was like, 'what do you mean his manager?'" Bozzi recalled to Craig.

“We kind of got caught, I supposed, which was kind of weird, ’cause we were doing nothing f***ing wrong,” said Craig.

“What happened is we were having a nice night and I kind of was talking to you about my life when my life was changing and we got drunk and I was like, ‘Oh, f***, let’s just go to a bar, come on, let’s f***ing go out.’

“We got busted for doing nothing wrong. And I just was like, ‘I don’t give a f***.’”
