CSI Event Series Revival In The Works

Barely five years after it ended, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is already prepped for a revival.

According to Variety, CBS, the broadcaster behind the iconic police procedural — about the cases handled by the Las Vegas Police Department’s forensic experts — is looking into a potential event series revival to mark the show’s 20th anniversary in October.

The original series, which aired on CBS from 2000-2015, and spawned spin-offs CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, and CSI: Cyber. The original cast included William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads and Jorja Fox. Laurence Fishburne and Ted Danson also starred on the show in later seasons.

Each series uses a Who number as its theme song: ‘Who Are You’ (for CSI); ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again (for CSI: Miami); ‘Baba Baba O’Riley (for CSI: New York); and ‘I Can See For Miles (CSI: Cyber).

Original series creator Anthony Zuiker and executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer are reportedly in talks for the event series, which would be a limited run not unlike the recent revivals for The X-Files, 24, and Heroes.

No one word who will be directing the revival but maybe they should give Quentin Tarantino a call. The Oscar-winning filmmaker is a big fan of the show and has even directed the two-parted Season 5 episode ‘Grave Danger'.
