Sarah Jeffrey has hit back after Rose McGowan claimed the Charmed reboot "sucks".

The 24-year-old star plays lead role Maggie Vera on the CW series — a remake of the original supernatural fantasy drama, which aired from 1998 to 2006 — but she has blasted Rose's comments as "pathetic".

The Canadian actress shared a TikTok video of original Charmed stars Rose and Holly Marie Combs discussing the new show.

She tweeted: "1/2 You know, I saw this earlier and I refrained from saying anything. I thought, better to just let them shout into the abyss. But I do want to say, I find it sad and quite frankly pathetic to see grown women behaving this way.

"2/2 I truly hope they find happiness elsewhere, and not in the form of putting down other WOC. I would be embarrassed to behave this way. Peace and love to y’all. (sic)"

On the TikTok clip, the pair start talking about the reboot and Rose says: "It sucks ... I've never seen it, I can't say that."

Holly then said: "I didn't hear what you said."

And Rose — who starred as Paige Matthews — replied: "I said it sucks. But I'm happy people have jobs."

Holly — who played Piper Halliwell in the show — didn't say anything about 'Charmed' in the clip, but in January 2018 she hit out at plans for a reboot.

She wrote on Twitter: "Here’s the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like [reboot showrunner] Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work. Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye. (sic)"

And in 2018, Alyssa Milano — who played Phoebe Halliwell — admitted she wished producers of the reboot had reached out to the original stars.

She said: "I wish that they would have come to us and we would have been involved since the beginning.

"But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation." — BANG
