Charisma Carpenter, Ray Fisher Respond To "Tyrannical Narcissistic Boss" Joss Whedon's Comments
Charisma Carpenter hits back at Joss Whedon's response to allegations of toxic behaviour on the sets of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Justice League'.
Charisma Carpenter has called Joss Whedon a "tyrannical narcissistic boss".
Carpenter — who worked with the director on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel — has responded after he addressed allegations of toxic behaviour from herself, Ray Fisher and Gal Gadot.
She wrote on Instagram: "#IStandWithRayFisher The 'malevolent force' and 'bad actor in both senses' who poisoned my feeble mind with trendy buzzwords and corrupt ideas about my experiences with a former tyrannical narcissistic boss who is still unable to be accountable and just apologize.
Reflecting on how he spoke to her after finding out she was pregnant, he told the publication: "I was not mannerly."
However, he added: "Most of my experiences with Charisma were delightful and charming.
"She struggled sometimes with her lines, but nobody could hit a punch line harder than her."
And asked directly if he called the actress "fat" while she was pregnant, he replied: "I did not call her fat. Of course, I didn't."
Addressing Gadot's allegations he threatened the Israeli star's career on set, he suggested there was a language barrier.
He said: "I don’t threaten people. Who does that? English is not her first language, and I tend to be annoyingly flowery in my speech."
In response, Gadot said: "I understood perfectly."
Elsewhere, Fisher, who previously accused Whedon of "gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable" behaviour on the set of Justice League, has also responded to the director's response.
After the piece was published, Fisher tweeted on Monday (Jan 17): "Looks like Joss Whedon got to direct an endgame after all…
"Rather than address all of the lies and buffoonery today — I will be celebrating the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tomorrow the work continues. #MLKDay A>E.(sic)"
On the following day, Fisher wrote: "Before I get started today, I want to thank you all for lifting and supporting EVERYONE that has been negatively affected by Joss Whedon.
"I was not the first to speak out about him, but I hope to be one of the last that has to. A>E
"Joss Whedon had nearly two years to get his story straight. He's likely spent tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars on PR, crisis management, and coaching.
"And his response to the allegations is: 'They all misunderstood and/or are out to get me — also my mom is sexy'???(sic)"
