Celebrites React To Joe Biden’s Win Over Donald Trump: “You’re Fired”
Joe Biden has been elected the 46th President of the United States.
Joe Biden has been elected the 46th President of the United States after a prolonged vote count, beating Donald Trump to the required 270 Electoral College votes.
He will be inaugurated as the President in January, after Pennsylvania gave him 20 votes — pushing him over the line. He was able to flip back three key states — Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania — that Trump had won four years ago, giving him the margin needed to win the Electoral College.
Biden also won the popular vote, with more than 75 million votes, breaking the vote record set by Barack Obama in 2012. Trump received more than 70 million votes — far more than the 63 million he received in 2016 when he beat Hillary Clinton while losing the popular vote.
“I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect Harris,” Biden said in a statement following his victory. “It’s time for America to unite. And to heal. We are the United States of America. And there’s nothing we can’t do, if we do it together.”
California Senator Kamala Harris made history as she was named the Vice President — the highest ranking female politician in the history of the United States. She will also become the first African-American and first Asian-American to hold that job.
Following the announcement that Biden was declared the next President, celebrities took to social media to celebrate. Get Out director Jordan Peele simply tweeted, "You're fired!", referencing the catchphrase used in Trump's reality show The Apprentice.
