BTS Announces Plans For At-Home Concerts On YouTube

BTS have announced plans for an at-home concert series.

The South Korean band has confirmed that the 'BANG BANG CON' series will be available to stream for fans around the world, many of whom are currently stuck at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The eight-part online special will feature a series of past concerts, with all of the gigs being made available by the YouTube channel BANGTANTV on Apr 17 and 18. The channel has been used for supplemental behind-the-scenes videos as well as dance practice clips.

Day one of 'BANG BANG CON' will consist of their concerts from 2014 to 2016, as well as their third "muster", which is a fun name BTS calls their fan meets, organised with the help of their official fanclub ARMY.

On the second day of the online series, fans can view BTS’ two 2017 shows, their fourth “muster”, and a show from their most recent tour that ended late last year. Here's the line-up.

Fans will also be able to connect their official BTS lightsticks through the Weverse app, a new venture by their label Big Hit Entertainment, to sync up via bluetooth.

This feature makes the lightstick change colors to the beat of the song that is being performed, and also has effects that shine in various patterns across the stadium. By syncing the device up at home, the viewer can match their lightstick with the fans' on screen.

Last month, fans can learn Korean using the Weverse app. Bit Hit's boss, Bang Si-Hyuk, commented: "There are only limited ways our fans could learn Korean with ease. Big Hit has created Korean learning media using artist content for a more rewarding and immersive experience for our fans."

BTS — which is comprised of V, Jungkook, Jimin, SUGA, Jin, RM and J-Hope — teamed up with the Korean Language Content Institute and Professor Heo Yong of the Department of Korean Education at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies for the series.

The group's 2013 album 2 Cool 4 Skool was finally released in the US while their current offering, Map of the Soul: 7 sold more than 4 million copies in their native South Korea, making them the first artist in the Gaon Music Chart's history to receive a quadruple-million certification. — BANG
