Brooke Shields says her ex-husband Andre Agassi smashed all his tennis trophies in a drug-fuelled fit of jealous rage after watching her film her finger-licking role in Friends.

The Blue Lagoon actress, 57, guested in 'The One After Super Bowl' episode (from Season 2) where her character Erika stalked Matt Le Blanc's Joey Tribbiani and famously licked Joey's hand at a restaurant.

Speaking to The New Yorker, Shields recalled at how Agassi lost his cool over her Friends appearance.

“Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out," she said.

“He said, ‘Everybody’s making fun of me. You made a fool of me by that behaviour.’

“I’m, like, ‘It’s comedy! What is the matter with you?’”

Agassi's fury didn’t stop by storming out of the studio. The second he got home, the tennis champ "smashed all his trophies".

Shields said she later learnt that her ex, now 52, was abusing crystal meth at that time. “So that irrational behavior I’m sure had something to do with that,” she said.

Shields and Agassi married on Apr 19, 1997, and divorced two years later.

In The New Yorker interview, Shields mentioned that the Friends producers initially didn’t want her to do her “crazy” stalker cackle during her episode — or “the licking of his fingers” to show how fixated she was on Joey.

But after being talked into it, they decided to put both in the show, leading Shields — who now has daughters Rowan, 19, and Grier, 16, with her 59-year-old husband of 22 years Chris Henchy – to be offered her sitcom Suddenly Susan.

She added: “All of a sudden, the energy changed, and all these men in suits started coming into the studio.

“The next day, I was asked if I wanted to do my own television show.”

Suddenly Susan ran for 93 episodes from 1996 to 2000.
