Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat sequel has found a home with Amazon Studios. It will be launched on Oct 23 on Prime Video.

Amazon Studios has acquired the worldwide rights to Borat Subsequent MovieFilm, the sequel to 2006’s Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

Contrary to early reports, the sequel isn't called Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan. The actual subtitle is revealed in the trailer — and it's as just as long and unwieldy: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime For Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

In the sequel — which was secretly filmed as COVID-19 shooting restrictions gradually eased — Cohen once again plays the bumbling, button-pushing, Baywatch-loving Kazakh journalist Borat Sagdiyev,

The mankini is back. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Around the same time as the Amazon announcement, a Twitter account titled ‘The Republic of Kazkhstan” dropped a pro-Trump parody video, congratulating him on winning the debate against presidential candidate Joe Biden before it even happened.

The video is narrated by Borat — or someone who sounds a lot like Borat — who hails Trump as “the greatest premier in history” and says “he’s not a racist or has ever had a stroke.” The clip ends with Borat saying, “Vote for premier Trump or you will be crushed.” Watch it here:

The original Borat made US$263 million (S$360 mil) worldwide and won Cohen the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical. Cohen also picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
