Ryan Reynolds, Reese Witherspoon, And More Stars React To Betty White’s Death At 99

Hollywood took to social media to mourn the death of TV legend Betty White who had died at the age of 99, just weeks before her much-anticipated 100th birthday.

Per Variety, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a death investigation on the 500 block of N Carmelina Ave in Los Angeles at 9.30am Friday (Dec 31) morning. She is believed to have died Thursday night at her Brentwood home. The LAPD tells Us, “It appears to be natural cause of death.”

In a statement, White’s agent and close friend Jeff Witjas, said, “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever. I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”

White is best known for her roles on The Golden Girls, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and more recently Hot in Cleveland. In 2010, she made history when she became the oldest person to ever host Saturday Night Live. That stint earned her an Emmy nomination. In all, White earned 21 Emmy nominations in her seven-decade-long career, winning the award five times.

In 2014, she received the Guinness World Record for hacving the longest TV career for a female entertainer. She said, “I have no regrets at all. None. I consider myself to be the luckiest old broad on two feet.”

White married TV game host Allen Ludden, her third and final husband, in 1963. Ludden died in 1981, and she never remarried.

Ryan Reynolds, who starred alongside White in 2009’s The Proposal, tweeted, “The world looks different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret.”
