Ashley Graham Breaks Silence On Disastrous Hugh Grant Interview At The Oscars

Ashley Graham's pre-show interview with Hugh Grant was too painful to watch.

Ashley Graham Breaks Silence On Disastrous Hugh Grant Interview At The Oscars

Ashley Graham is aiming to stick to her mum’s advice amid the fallout from her car-crash Oscars interview with Hugh Grant.

The model, 34, was faced with curt answers, smirks and an eye roll from Grant, 62, when she interviewed him at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday (Mar 12), in footage that has gone viral and led to Four Weddings and a Funeral actor being bombarded with hatred and criticism for everything from being “dismissive” to “rude”, with many branding him an “a******” in social media posts about the chat.

When asked by TMZ to weigh in on the situation, Graham, “You know what, my mama told me to kill people with kindness.”

For those who just joined us, this brouhaha happened during the pre-show 'champagne' carpet interview, in which Grant clearly wasn't in the mood to be interviewed on live TV.

The interview, if you want to call it that, had Graham asking Grant what he liked about the Oscars. To which, Grant replied, "It's fascinating, the whole humanity is here. It's vanity fair."

Graham must've misheard Grant and thought he was referring to the fashion mag Vanity Fair and the post-Oscars bash it throws.

She said, "Oh yes, it's all about Vanity Fair, that's where we need to let loose and have a little fun."

Some fans believed Grant was actually referring to the 1847 novel Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackery (it was made into a movie starring Reese Witherspoon in 2004 and a 2018 mini-series with Olivia Cooke), where the title is used to describe a world of opulence, excess and status.

When asked which nominated talent or film he was rooting for Grant, sounding like he rather be somewhere else than at the Oscars, replied: "Not...no one in particular."

So far, so bored. But things got worse from here on. Asked what he wore to the Oscars, Grant quipped, "A suit." When Graham wanted to know who made the suit, Grant said, "My tailor."

Asked about his cameo in Glass Onion, which was up for the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar, Grant said, "Well, I'm barely in it, I was in it for about three seconds."

But did he at least have fun making it?

"Emmm...almost," said Grant before he turned away with a microphone in hand and rolled his eyes.

Grant’s reactions to Graham during her chat were branded “the worst interview ever” by Netizens, with droves of critics lashing out at the actor for his “disinterest”.

Maybe Grant was conserving his British charm for later when he reunited with his Four Weddings and a Funeral co-star Andie MacDowell to present Best Production Design.

The father-of-five opened their segment by saying they were there to “raise awareness about the vital importance of using a good moisturiser”.

He added: “Andie has been wearing one every day for the last 29 years. I have never used one in my life.”

Pointing at MacDowell, he called her “still stunning” and then pointed at himself before adding: “Basically a scrotum.”

Grant will next be seen in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,  in cinemas on Mar 30, with sneaks on Mar 24-26 — BANG SHOWBIZ
