Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms He Is Not In Expendables 4: "I'm Out Of It"

Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed he will not appear in The Expendables 4.

Speaking to Parade, Schwarzenegger, who portrayed Trench Mauser in the first three movies in the franchise, said he will reprise the role in the upcoming sequel, due in cinemas in September.

"It’s done and I’m not in it," the Terminator star said.

"I said, ‘You know what, we have done this and I’m out of it.’ And [franchise architect Sylvester Stallone] really understood."

Schwarzenegger, 75, admitted he only made a cameo in the first Expendables movie — which came out in 2010 — as a favour to Stallone, and he plans to work with the Rocky actor on another project "one day".

He added: "I shot [the first movie] on a Saturday for two hours quickly in a church with Bruce Willis."

"Sly said, ‘Oh, can you do Expendables 2? and I did that for a weekend.

"Then it was expanded for Expendables 3. And that was it. We’re going to do something together one day."

In August 2021, it was confirmed a fourth Expendables instalment was in the works. Filming started two months later under the aegis of stunt performer-turned-director Scott Waugh (Need for Speed) and ended in December. The film is now slated for a September release.

The plot involves the titular mercenaries taking on an arms dealer who has his own private army. But of course.

Expendables regulars Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture will be joined by newbies Megan Fox, 50 Cent, Iko Uwais, and Tony Jaa. 

Schwarzenegger is currently starring in the Netflix action-comedy series, Fubar, and will be the subject of a three-part documentary, Arnold, premiering on the streaming service on June 7. — BANG SHOWBIZ
