Amy Adams "Thrilled" That Henry Cavill Is Back As Superman, Says She Hasn't Been Approached About Reprising Lois Lane Role
Henry Cavill made it Instagram official last month that he's back as Superman.
We all know Henry Cavill is back as Superman. But what about Amy Adams? Will she reprise her role as Lois Lane?
When Variety brought up Cavill returning as Superman at the Disenchanted premiere on Wednesday (Nov 16), Adams said, “Isn’t it exciting?”
Adams then said her husband, artist Darren Le Gallo, told her the news about Cavill’s Superman cameo in the mid-credits stinger in Black Adam. “I’m thrilled for [Cavill],” Adams said. “He’s such a wonderful Superman so I’m very excited for him.”
After Black Adams’ global release, Cavill made his return social-media official on Oct 24: “But now that plenty of you have [seen the movie], I wanted to make it official — I am back as Superman and the image you see in this post and what you saw in Black Adam are a very small taste of what’s to come.”
But Cavill’s post doesn’t say if the six-time Oscar-nominated actress will return as Lois.
Adams played the Supe's other half three times: in 2013’s Man of Steel, 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League. (Well, four, if you include 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League.)
“They haven’t spoken to me about it,” Adams told Variety. “If it’s me, great. If it’s somebody else, the role of Lois has been filled by so many wonderful actresses in the past so I’ll support whatever direction they go.”
In 2020, Adams told Empire that she’s “totally be open” to playing Lois again but doubt it would ever happen. “I think [the studio is] moving in a different direction, from my understanding,” she said then.
Well, that was in 2020 and lots have happened over at Warner Bros since then. Don’t give up hope yet, Amy!
Disenchanted, the sequel to 2007’s Enchanted, premieres on Disney+ on Friday (Nov 18).
