Welcome back, Doctor Octopus!

It looks like Spider-Man will be battling an old foe in the upcoming Tom Holland-led threequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alfred Molina, who portrayed tenacled-villain Otto Octavius in Tobey Maguire’s 2004 Spider-Man 2, is reprising his role in the web-slinger’s latest adventure.

The Untitled Spider-Man Sequel — as it’s known on IMDB — is expected to feature all three generations of Peter Parker (Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield).

Although this isn’t confirmed, there are enough clues pointing to such a get-together.

J K Simmons returned as J Jonah Jameson, another alumnae from the Maguire-era movies, in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. Jamie Foxx is also onboard as Electro, the villain in the Garfield-fronted 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

In fact, it was Foxx who hinted that all three different Spider-Men could appear in the movie in a since-deleted Instagram post in October.

And then there’s Benedict Cumberbatch who’ll show up as well as Doctor Strange. Some fans theorised that it’s the Master of the Mystic Arts’ ability to open up alternate dimensions that leads to the epic crossovers.

Can you imagine Doctors Octopus and Strange sharing a scene? Will they have a ‘Doctor, Doctor’ moment?

Spider-Man 3 is currently in production and is slated to open in cinemas in Dec 2021.
