A Look At Zhang Ziyi & Wang Feng's Past Known Relationships
Chinese stars Zhang Ziyi, 44, and Wang Feng, 52, announced their divorce yesterday (Oct 23). News of the split surprised many as the couple appeared to be in a blissful marriage for the past eight years.
Wang Feng and Ziyi's past relationships have since taken centrestage on the internet, for obvious reasons.
Wang Feng has been married three times and fathered four children with three women, including Ziyi.
Ziyi, on the other hand, has been in a series of high profile relationships.
No wonder netizens are saying the former couple are equally matched when it comes to having exciting love lives.
Here's a deep dive into who they've dated, married or got engaged to.
Wang Feng's first wife Qi Dan
Before rising to fame, Wang Feng was married to Chinese host Qi Dan from 2003 to 2004. The two met at a gig in Chengdu in 1998. It was apparently love at first sight and they went on to date for four years before tying the knot.
Qi Dan quit her job as a host in Sichuan to accompany Wang Feng in Beijing while he worked at making a name for himself.
Unfortunately, the couple divorced a year later, for reasons unknown to the public.
Wang Feng's ex-girlfriend and baby mama Ge Huijie
In 2004, a 33-year-old Wang Feng met Chinese model Ge Huijie, who was then just 17.
A year later, she gave birth to their daughter Apple.
The pair never got married, and eventually broke up in 2006.
According to reports, Wang Feng was the one who suggested the split as he felt Huijie was too “playful and rebellious”, and not ready to be a "dutiful wife and mother".
In 2011, Wang Feng took a paternity test to ascertain that Apple, then six, was really his daughter. He said his reason for the test was to apply for her the Chinese equivalent of our NRIC.
When asked for her thoughts on Wang Feng and Ziyi's divorce, Huijie said: “We split up a long time ago, and our kid is already grown up. It’s okay as long as the kids are not affected. I’m not bothered by matters regarding the two of them."
Wang Feng's second wife Kang Zuoru
Wang Feng tied the knot with non-celeb Kang Zuoru in a hush-hush ceremony at Las Vegas in 2010. They reportedly started dating in 2007.
After marriage, Zuoru quit her job to become a full-time housewife. She also occasionally assisted Wang Feng as his manager.
They welcomed their daughter, Jingyi, in 2012.
A year later, Wang Feng filed for divorce, leaving Jingyi in the custody of Zuoru. He announced his singlehood in a Weibo post on September 2013.

In 2013, pictures of the pair playing mahjong together, sparked rumours that they were an item.
At that time, Wang Feng was said to have bumped into Ziyi’s mother at a casino in Macau, and he won her favour by helping her win money.
He proposed to Ziyi during her 36th birthday party in 2015. They got married in May that year, and in December, welcomed their daughter, Xing Xing.
On New Year’s Day 2020, Ziyi gave birth to their second child, a son.
Zhang Ziyi & her first love Gao Feng
She met the singer when she starred in one of his music videos. They were reportedly forced to break up by Ziyi's mum, who did not approve of the relationship.
The singer died in 2002, at age 34, from an illness.
In the late ‘90s, Ziyi was rumoured to have dated renowned film director Zhang Yi Mou, who is 29 years older than the actress.
She was known as a 'Mou Girl', actresses who get plucked from obscurity by the director to star in his movies. Other Mou Girls include Gong Li and Zhou Dongyu.
Ziyi shot to fame after starring in Yimou's 1999 movie The Road Home.
Zhang Ziyi & Eric Fok
In 2004, Ziyi attended a charity gala, where she met Eric Fok, the second son of late Hong Kong tycoon Henry Fok and actress Loletta Chu.
The two made headlines after they were photographed kissing in public.
However, the Fok family reportedly did not approve of Ziyi as a daughter-in-law because she refused to leave showbiz. It led to her eventual split with Eric in 2006.
She was in a high-profile relationship with Israeli-American billionaire venture capitalist Vivi Nevo from 2008 to 2010.
The pair painted the town red with their many appearances at events. After dating for just a year, Vivi announced their engagement, though that clearly did not last.
Zhang Ziyi & Sa Beining
Perhaps the most surprising of all her ex boyfriends. The relationship was not looked at favourably by the public as Ziyi was widely acknowledged to be more successful than Beining, who is a host.
Ziyi’s mother was said to be terribly critical of Beining, saying: “My Ziyi is good at earning money, she earns 70 times what he does. If he’s man enough, they should hurry up and break up.”
