Zhang Ziyi Unfairly Blamed By Netizens For Jinxing 5 Celeb Couples Who Ended Up Getting A Divorce
Chinese netizens pointed out that five former celeb couples who received congratulatory messages from Ziyi on their marriage and/or invited her to their wedding all had their relationships end in divorce.
Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, 42, may have been blessed with a blissful marriage herself (she wed Chinese rocker Wang Feng in 2015), but it turns out that many of her friends have not been so lucky in this department.
Recently, Chinese netizens pointed out that five former celeb couples who received congratulatory messages from Ziyi on their marriage and/or invited her to their wedding all had their relationships end in divorce.
This peculiar but amusing coincidence has dramatically been dubbed the “blessings curse of Zhang Ziyi”, which honestly sounds really unfair ‘cos it’s clear that the star simply has a very wide social circle.

In any case, these five ex-pairings who have been supposedly hit by this ‘jinx’ are: Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung, Ling Xiaosu and Yao Chen, Gao Yunxiang and Dong Xuan, as well as Jane Zhang and CEO Michael Feng.
Ziyi famously flew to South Korea to attend the not-so-private nuptials of Joong Ki and Hye Kyo four years ago. However, as everyone probably knows, there was no happy ending for the Song-Song couple, who eventually split in mid-2019.
This led netizens to declare that the “blessings curse” is “strong” and “transcends ethnicities and cultures”. Um, okay.

Ziyi had also given Nicholas and Cecilia her best wishes when they tied the knot in 2006, even praising their “love without regrets”. Sadly, her remarks aged as well as milk as the parents-of-two called it quits in 2011.
As for the rest of the now-defunct couples, Ziyi is known to be good friends with them and sent them her blessings when they walked down the aisle.

Fans soon came to Ziyi’s defense, saying that it isn’t very nice to be basically ‘blaming’ her for others’ marital woes especially when all she did was be supportive and congratulate her pals, so this unnecessary connecting of dots feels like nothing more than a nasty smear campaign against the actress.
